EMAIL DEVOTIONS

The moto for SCOM-AF is FEED THE FLOCK as spoken by Jesus to Simon on John 21 vs. 16 as this section of SCOM is there to offer both physical and spiritual support to students. Feed The Flock has also been taken as the name of the Weekly Devotion that is emailed to all subscribers. The devotion centres at offering words of encouragement to those who want to minister to others. The devotions are written by people inspired by the Holy Spirit to write and some of the devotions are from emails posted on other internet sites. If you want to subscribe to these email devotions, send a blank email to feedtheflock_admin@christianemailservice.com and put SUBSCRIBE on the subject. For those who want to join as devotional writers, they can express their desire by sending an email to the same highlighted address. If you don't have a bible in hand, you can read one on http://www.biblegateway.com

THIS WEEKS' DEVOTION

JESUS KNOWS -  15 SEPTEMBER 2006
From Bonnie Ricks, Newsong Ministries

When Jesus saw Nathaniel approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false." "How do you know me?" Nathaniel asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you." - John 1:47- 48

When Jesus saw Nathaniel coming toward Him, He said, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!"  Some people might say that Jesus already knew who Nathaniel was, and this is possible. Some others might say that Jesus, being an observant and perceptive person, could tell by the way Nathaniel carried himself that he was a guileless person, and this, too, is possible.  But the truth is that Jesus knew all about Nathaniel by divine knowledge, just like He knows all about you and me.

Think about this... Jesus is the only One with whom you cannot get away with lying!  Because He knows.... He knows where your heart is, what's really inside you.  You can lie to yourself.  You can lie to your friends.  You can lie to everyone around you.  In fact, you can create such a facade of who you really are, that no one, not even you, will know the truth.  But Jesus knows.  And the wonderful, miraculous thing about that is that He loves you and me anyway!

There is nothing too great, too awful, too sinful, to keep you away from Jesus' love.... IF you can bring yourself to confess it to Him, to repent of it, and to ask for His forgiveness.  Is there anyone else you know who will forgive and forget anything and everything, no matter what?

Pray today that you can look at yourself honestly, unafraid of what you will find, knowing that whatever is there that is ugly, or evil, or hurtful, can be washed away by the precious blood of our Lord.  And whatever is there that is good, kind, compassionate, patient, loving or of good report, He will build up in you so that you will become a better witness for Him.

"Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." John 1:29

quote:
"First of all, keep your constant hours of prayer every day with God. Collect good books for your homes. Be careful of the company you keep. Be careful about what you listen to. Follow after sincerity. Always be at the job of self-examination. Be on guard in your spiritual life. The people of God should often associate together. Let your hearts be lifted up above the world. Comfort yourselves with God's promises. Be not idle, but work for your living. Put the first and second tables of the law [the Ten Commandments] together: piety to God and equity to your neighbour. In your walk before others, put innocence and prudence together. Be more afraid of sin than suffering. Take heed of idolatry. Do not look down on godliness because it is reproached and persecuted. Don't think highly of sin because it is in fashion. In the business of the Christian life, serve God with all your might. Do all the good you can to others as long as you live. Every day think on eternity." -- Thomas Watson
